From the EURAPAG & Congress Presidents

Welcome Messages

Dear friends in PAG,

It is with enormous pleasure that I welcome you to this, the 15th European Congress of Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology which is being held under the auspices of the European Association EURAPAG. As a previous Congress organiser I am all too well aware of the work and effort that is needed to ensure that the experience will be a positive one, and I am also extremely conscious of the time and commitment given by our Dutch colleagues from different disciplines to enable this Congress to be the success I anticipate it will be.

As my time in office draws to a close I could not wish for a better way to say farewell and greet our new President and Board for the next three years. My time as President has flown by, but I am confident my Board and I are leaving the European PAG Association in a stronger position with an expanded membership and with a more visible presence than was the case three years ago. The Association has a deepening relationship with the European Board and College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology with whom we have shared the development of standards, joint publications on PAG and an exciting brand new European curriculum. We also work closely with the global PAG network which is FIGIJ, the International Federation for PAG. Other than for these shared goals, EURAPAG has supported and will continue to support PAG services in your country as best we can, and are there to ensure that services are retained and developed at a national level. Incidentally, membership of EURAPAG also allows for a discount on the annual subscription for the Journal of Paediatric and Adolescent Gynecology.

There is a lot to learn and share at this Congress and together we can make a difference in educating, training and promoting best management of the wide spectrum of conditions that come under the umbrella of Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology. If you are an experienced PAG specialist you still have much more to learn. If you are dipping your toe in the water to explore setting up a PAG practice then this Congress will help provide you with the foundations you will need. Finally, if you are trainee we would like to encourage you to be part of our family and help to establish and develop the future of PAG services. There is still much work to be done!

On behalf of the EURAPAG Board, our members and the wider PAG family I would like to extend a warm welcome to you in Rotterdam and express our sincere thanks to the Dutch PAG group who have worked so hard to make this happen.

Enjoy!

Paul Wood
President EURAPAG 2017-2020

Dear colleagues and friends,

Welcome to the 15th European Congress of Paediatric and Adolescents Gynaecology being held from 3-6 June 2020. This congress is a collaboration between the European Association of Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology (EURAPAG) and the Dutch society of Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology (DutchPAG). The meeting will be held in Hilton hotel in downtown Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

Our goals are to share knowledge, to build interdisciplines in the care of PAG patients, to help each other learn and to meet each other in a stimulating environment. The program highlights include international and national renowned speakers representing the major topics in PAG. Each day will start with a plenary session addressing a current issue of importance. After the plenaries, the scientific committee has organized parallel multidisciplinary sessions and debates on the major topics in PAG.

On Friday 5 June 2020, the Second Pan-European Trainee Congress is organized parallel to the other scientific sessions. So, both trainee and advanced sessions are directed to needs of learners at various stages of their career. This Second Trainee Congress focusses on small scale learning, including a stump-the-professor session as well as providing an opportunity for trainees to present their own research.

Networking remains a vital part of the conference. The social committee has organized excellent opportunities to meet old friends and colleagues and make new ones.
The Welcome reception, hosted by the Mayor’s Office on Wednesday 3 June, is in the historic Town Hall of Rotterdam just across the street from the congress venue. This is one of the few old buildings in the centre of Rotterdam that has survived the bombardment of May 1940.

On Friday evening, the congress party is in Café Rotterdam in the iconic Cruise Terminal at the Rotterdam Wilhelmina Pier on the Maas River. This Cruise Terminal, part of our industrial heritage, has served as arrival- and departure hall of large passenger ships including those of the Holland-America Line. From the terrace the panorama is the best of Rotterdam.

If your time allows, Rotterdam is an excellent city as starting point for visiting the Netherlands. The city itself has much to offer, tipped by the Lonely Planet and New York Times as a “must see”. Besides, Rotterdam is also the perfect base from which to visit other Dutch cities, nature, the beautiful North Sea beaches and the attractions in the area. Get on your bike and/or take public transportation and you’ll find yourself there in no time: from the bustling Rotterdam Maasvlakte and the vast dunes of Hoek van Holland to the royal city, The Hague. Or take a boat ride to the traditional Dutch windmills at Kinderdijk, a perfect activity in June.

So, on behalf of EURAPAG and DutchPAG, I invite you to register and book your hotel for the 15th EURAPAG congress. We are looking forward to make you feel welcome in Rotterdam.
